Answers to the questions clinics ask most often before they start. If yours is not here, write to support@spriggan.ai.
01 What is Spriggan Health?
A software platform for outpatient medical practices. It combines an AI receptionist that answers the clinic's phone, a chart for clinical documentation, scheduling, fax and messaging handling, billing support, and electronic prescribing.
It is sold to clinics, not to patients. Patients interact with it through their own clinic.
02 Who is it for?
United States outpatient practices — primary care, urgent care and small specialty clinics — typically those without the staff to keep a phone line answered all day, and without the budget for an enterprise EHR.
03 How does the AI receptionist work?
It answers the clinic's phone, books and reschedules appointments, takes refill requests, answers routine questions about hours and location, and sends the patient intake forms or directions by text. Anything it cannot handle is escalated to a person, with the call and a written summary attached to the patient's record.
It never diagnoses, never gives medical advice, and never makes a clinical decision.
04 Can clinicians prescribe from the platform?
Yes. Prescriptions are written in the patient's chart and sent electronically over the Surescripts network through a certified e-prescribing partner. The prescriber chooses the medication and the patient chooses the pharmacy — see E-Prescribing for the full workflow.
05 Which pharmacy does a prescription go to?
The one the patient chooses. It is stored as their preferred pharmacy and can be changed at any time, for any prescription. Retail and mail-order pharmacies are both searchable, and results are not filtered to favour any pharmacy or chain.
06 Are you paid by pharmacies or drug companies?
No. Clinics pay a subscription for the software. We take no payment from pharmacies, pharmacy benefit managers, drug manufacturers or wholesalers, and no fee that varies with what is prescribed or where it is dispensed.
07 Can controlled substances be prescribed?
Prescribers who complete identity proofing, hold a valid DEA registration and enrol in two-factor authentication can prescribe controlled substances, signing each one with a PIN and a one-time code from their own phone. Those credentials are personal to the prescriber and cannot be delegated.
08 How is patient data protected?
We operate under a Business Associate Agreement with each clinic. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is restricted to the clinic's own authorised users, and every view and change is logged. Our Privacy Policy sets out what we collect and why.
09 Do patients get text messages?
Only after they opt in, and only for appointment reminders and confirmations, clinic directions, intake form links and billing reminders. Replying STOP ends them. The full terms are in our Terms of Service.
10 How do we get started?
Request a demonstration and we will walk through the platform with your clinic, including the prescribing workflow. Questions in the meantime go to support@spriggan.ai.
